Sabbath Delight
Ruth 1
1 Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
3 And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
4 And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
5 And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
6 Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
7 Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
8 And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9 The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
10 And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
11 And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12 Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
13 Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.
14 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
21 I went out full and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
Faith and Works (FW)
chapter 8 “God’s Commandment-Keeping People”
Portion of a sermon at South Lancaster, Massachusetts, January 19, 1889, titled “In him is light,” published in the The Review and Herald, February 26, 1889.
All heaven has been looking with intense interest upon those who claim to be God’s commandment-keeping people. Here are the people who ought to be able to claim all the rich promises of God; who ought to be going on from glory to glory and from strength to strength; who ought to be in a position to reflect glory to God in the works that they do. Jesus has said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). {FW 59.1; FO.58.1}
We have received the rich blessing of God, but we must not stop here. We are to catch more and more the divine rays of light from heaven. We are to stand just where we can receive the light and reflect it, in its glory, upon the pathway of others. There has never been a time when we could feel more courage and confidence in the work than at the present time. There are many in our world who do not keep the commandments of God or make any profession of so doing, and yet they claim all His blessings. They are willing to accept and appropriate His promises without heeding the conditions upon which they are based. They have no right to the blessings they claim. {FW 59.2; FO.58.2}
But why should not those who are keeping His commandments lay hold of the promises that have been given to the children of God? We can see Christ’s righteousness in the law. In the cross of Calvary, “mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other” (Psalm 85:10). This is the blending that there should be in our work. {FW 59.3; FO.58.3}
Truth and righteousness must be presented with the love of God as it was manifested in Jesus. What purity will then be seen! What a cleansing of every moral defilement will be shown to be necessary! Then, when this is done, the stubbornness of the will which has kept so many away from the light, as they behold the preciousness of the Redeemer, His mercy and pity, will all be melted away from their souls. {FW 60.1; FO.59.1}
Every one of us must fall on the Rock and be broken. Will there be one who will retain his stubbornness? Will there be one who will cling to his self-righteousness? Will there be one who will not catch sight of the preciousness of Christ? Is there a heart here that will not be subdued by the love of Jesus? Will any retain one particle of self-esteem? {FW 60.2; FO.59.2}
We need to come still closer to God…. Why is it that our hearts have been so insensible to the love of God? Why have we had so hard a judgment of our heavenly Father? From the light that God has given me, I know that Satan has misrepresented our God in every possible way. He has cast his hellish shadow athwart our pathway, that we might not discern our God as a God of mercy, compassion, and truth. This is why the iron has entered into our souls. {FW 60.3; FO.59.3}
Then we have talked of the darkness that the evil one has cast upon us, and we have bemoaned our condition; and in so doing, we have only spread the shadow over other souls, and that which has injured us was an injury to them. As we have uttered our words of unbelief, others have been enshrouded in darkness and doubt. {FW 60.4; FO.59.4}
We cannot afford to do this work. We thus put our kind heavenly Father in a false light. All this should change. We must gather up the rays of divine truth and let our light shine upon the darkened pathway of others. Heaven’s light shines for those who will follow Christ, the light of the world. He says, “He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). {FW 60.5; FO.60.1}
What kind of recommendation do you give to the world of the religion of Christ if you go repining and complaining and filled with sorrow? Those who keep the commandments of God should make it manifest that the truth is sanctifying the soul, refining and purifying the thoughts, and elevating the character and life. Christ has died that the moral image of God might be restored in our souls and might be reflected to those around us. {FW 61.1; FO.60.2}
We need to drink deeper and deeper of the fountain of life. I hope that not a soul will be satisfied without making thorough work for eternity, and from this time on may it be seen, both by precept and example, that you are representatives of Christ. You may have a living testimony to bear: “Hear what the Lord has done for my soul.” The Lord is ready to impart still greater blessings. {FW 61.2; FO.60.3}
He permitted all His goodness to pass before Moses; He proclaimed His character to him as a God full of mercy, long-suffering, and gracious—forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin. Moses was to represent this character to the people of Israel, and we are to do the same. {FW 61.3; FO.60.4}
We are to go forth to proclaim the goodness of God and to make plain His real character before the people. We are to reflect His glory. Have we done this in the past? Have we revealed the character of our Lord by precept and example? Have we not joined in the work of the enemy of souls and misrepresented our heavenly Father? Have we not been passing judgment on our brethren, criticizing their words and actions? Then the love of God has not been enthroned in our souls. Let us make a decided change. {FW 61.4; FO.61.1}
Testimony: 02-24-2018
Beloved, at around 11:50 pm, this night that happened February 24, 2018, this voice woke me, it was a voice that when I heard it I was asleep and there it woke me up, and that voice told me: “be strong and do not hesitate, God speaks in parables so that only His true children understand Him, they will advance without hesitation, since they are the understood ones.” {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p1}
At that moment when I heard that, then I got up, after this I could not sleep, I was receiving many instructions on things that I personally should do and help other people as well. Then this was spinning in my head, these words that “God speaks in parables so that only His children can understand.” So at that moment, when I was thinking about all this, as He referred me an example, He told me: “Isaiah 26.” He had already mentioned it to me before, then He told me: “that only the understood will understand.” {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p2}
So I got up, prayed, asked God to help me reach more people so that they would not suffer and that they could prepare for the imminent coming of the Lord. So, at this moment, in my supplication, in my prayer, I was told that it was going to be like that and not to worry, I was told that our SDA church is taking the lives of its parishioners in its hands and taking them to the precipice. He referred to them as dumb dogs that see danger and enjoy falling, and causing others to fall, but whose retribution was already designated. So at that moment I saw like a movie, I saw a small handful of conscious people who are raising their voices so that many do not perish and can prepare for what we have on us. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p3}
At that time I was instructed not to hesitate and to follow the line of truth that is becoming more and more accentuated, because heaven has stipulated it. I saw a terrible war between the SDA organization and the true servants of God. It was a maximum fight of destruction, but the latter were freed by the divine hand. At that moment the scene ended and the voice returned again to say: “God speaks in parables so that His true children will understand them.” {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p4}
So, beloved, after a while of meditating on this, praying,… I went back to bed meditating on this and thanking God for His infinite mercy towards His true people. I don’t know when, but as soon as I fell asleep deeply, I was taken to this place that was a room in the basement of a church, there I saw all kinds of activities, everyone was absorbed in them, from meals to movies. Then suddenly someone ran in and said: “the mob is coming.” At that time all kinds of uniformed men entered and they all began to run through the urbanizations, cities, leaving there outside that room through a back part that had these lower parts of the church, there was a door and they all ran out. But as much as they ran, it didn’t matter where they went, they always caught them. So I would yell at them with all my might to go to the fields, to run to the fields, but my petitions were in vain because there were barricades around that city and they couldn’t get out no matter how hard they tried. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p5}
Then my companion, at that moment He told me: “let’s go.” So I did not want to leave because there I saw pastors, elders, deacons, many well-known people, who were taken by discouragement or disbelief or delay and they did not make preparations for their escape. So now, then, I saw them as they were taken to large campuses, these campuses were surrounded by serpentines and they were being mistreated and they cried bitterly there without consolation. So I asked them to leave me there, that I could help them, that they allow me to help. So then I was not allowed, but we went to another place. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p6}
We went into a field where there were people, these people were plowing the land, others were sowing, others were harvesting, others were preparing furrows for planting and irrigation. Then I was shown some planting terraces, which also accumulated water, how this was prepared to work in this way. Then the most beautiful greens that I have ever seen were planted there. All the people who were there in that place were not affected by what was happening in the city, this group was calm, since they were absorbed in their tasks, and they were not looking at what was happening in the cities. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p7}
At that moment I was taken to a large hut in that place, and there everyone with great supplications asked God to forgive them, to liberate them and to direct them. Then I was told to pay attention to those three acts: to ask for forgiveness, to ask for liberation and to ask for direction. At that moment I was absorbed in this and a tumult was heard in the distance, but it was intensifying more and more and more and more. So we were kind of alert. So the closer this tumult got the more the shouting and noise intensified. So those of us who were present were afraid, because we knew what that noise meant, or at least I knew it, because I already knew what had been happening in the cities because that’s where I came from. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p8}
Then we all fell on our knees to pray and start crying out for liberation, at that moment my companion told me: “come and see.” Then we were suspended in the air and I saw the mob coming. At that moment many angels came down to the aid of the faithful children of God. It was a wonderful moment where the mountains could hardly support that angelic host and with drawn swords they were fixed in the turbulent mob. Then at that moment my companion said to me: “what do you see?,” and I said to Him: “oh! I see the people of the living God protected by exalted angels!. That scene was wonderful!, I was absorbed seeing all this and at the same time very moved. Then when I told Him like this, that I saw the people of the living God protected by exalted angels, He answered me: “the sacrifice does not matter, it is worth being faithful.” So at that moment I said a big “amen!” and said: “blessed God!” And at that moment there I woke up. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p9}
Dear brothers, let’s not be slow, let’s not be lazy in not doing God’s will. Because it is going to cost us a lot and not just us, but our little ones, our teenagers, our young people, those who for some reason themselves may not be able to get out but rather depend on adults to get them out of these conflagrations so terrible that they are going to come to the cities. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p10}
Let’s get ready!, let’s prepare our hearts before the Lord, let’s kill self, let’s kill pride, let’s kill everything in the name of the Lord that prevents us from doing God’s will. Let’s go out quickly, in haste!, let’s go out joyful knowing that we are fulfilling the will of God!. It does not matter, no matter the pains we suffer, no matter what we leave behind, everything is worth for the kingdom of God! {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p11}
It is my prayer and my request that we all prepare ourselves, and that those of us who are already in this continue to prepare for these things that we already have almost on top of us, and for future events, and especially in the spiritual life to meet our God. May the Lord bless you all. {Daisy Escalante: 02-24-2018 , en.p12}
Isaiah 26
1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
5 For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
6 The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
7 The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.
8 Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
10 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
11 LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.
12 LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
13 O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.
15 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.
16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.
17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.
18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
Testimony: 05-21-2020
May 21, 2020, In a dream I was helping several people. These people had decisions to make, and talents that they could use, but they didn’t. I exhorted them to take action to be ready for the coming crisis; but their sedentary relaxed life was the order of their day. {Daisy Escalante: 05-21-2020 , en.p1}
Soon I saw a very strong wind that hit us all. Personally, I had to use all my strength, and even so I felt that my hands were detaching from where they were holding; I cried out: “Lord, help me I perish!” Soon I saw a very bright light before me, and I felt that on top of my hands, other hands settled down and made me hold more tightly, and although my feet flew in the air like a leaf carried by the wind, my hands remained anchored where they were. {Daisy Escalante: 05-21-2020 , en.p2}
I cried out: “Lord help them!, help them too!” My eyes were opened, and I saw those who were assisted the same way as me. A very considerable time passed, and that tremendous wind passed, I saw that we were decimated and we suffered greatly because of it. {Daisy Escalante: 05-21-2020 , en.p3}
At that moment there I woke up, and I was told: “Psalm 12.” {Daisy Escalante: 05-21-2020 , en.p4}
Psalms 12
1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
Testimony: 02-20-2021
February 20, 2021. In dreams, I saw a very large factory, with a lot of activity, inside the sea. This one was working at full steam, and many in it. Everyone was amazed that such a large factory was working perfectly and praised it. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p1}
Soon, an explosion arose in it, and another, and another, to the point that it exploded like a volcano; and all that great factory of gigantic tubes, in some places, disappeared before the explosion, and all those who worked there, died. That scene was very frightening and sad! After this, people could be heard saying: “how horrible, how sad! How could this happen if that plant was so safe?” The smoke rose to the clouds and many ran for their lives because they feared the effects of said cloud. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p2}
The scene changed and I saw a man talking to a group of people and no one was paying attention to this. And I saw him withdraw and climb a hill and, from there, look with great sadness at those he had spoken to and they paid no attention to him. Then I didn’t see him anymore. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p3}
And the next scene passed before me where many were walking behind a funeral coffin, and the lid of said coffin was transparent. As it passed in front of me I looked and saw the man who was preaching and [to whom] no one paid any attention. So, I saw many who, seeing this, cried and said: “how sad, he died! If I had known that after his preaching he would not live, I would have embraced him and paid attention. Now it’s too late.” {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p4}
The scene changed. And I saw how, on a rural street, a heavy equipment machine was traveling. This removed rubble as it passed and deposited it in that designated place. I saw that they were also demolishing things that were already very old, and their mission was not to leave any. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p5}
The scene changed. And soon I was transferred into one of those houses; and I saw a woman and several people listening to what she was saying. She exclaimed: “this has cost me a lot and I will not deliver it with my work inside, help me take everything out and break it, and dirty everything clean, and damage everything painted.” So I saw that everyone executed this order when I saw that those from the heavy machinery arrived and shouted to those who were inside to come out. But these were delaying, they were there fulfilling the woman’s order. I heard them all say, “get out, get out!” Those of the machinery also warned for the second time; but these did not come out. And so for the third time. And when no one responded to the call, the heavy equipment began its work and began to tear everything down, and then the structure collapsed and I did not see them anymore. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p6}
So I saw myself walking along a path of leafy trees, and near each tree there were people resting under its shade. These looked tired, as if they had just come from a long journey. There one of them said to the other: “We finally arrived at a quiet place! We couldn’t bring much, but we have peace. Thank God we were able to flee from the destruction of the big city!” Yet another responded: “And now, what are we going to do? Don’t we only have a bundle with things and the food is until tomorrow” And another replied: “Let’s go see what the trees have, if there is fruit on them.” So they went and found fruit in an orchard of trees. And, there, a man among them, who from what I saw was the guard. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p7}
Thus, the people who arrived hungry said: “Please, can we have some fruit to eat?” The guard told them: “only one of each tree and, then, plant your own.” Some thanked, others murmured; They exclaimed: “And why should we go plant when there are so many leafy fruit trees here?” The guard replied: “Each one has its owner who tilled the land, planted it, put the seed there, took care of it, fertilized it, watered it, weeded it, and so was their care. Until they grew and bore fruit, and now they rest tranquil. This is how everyone who wants to have tranquility in the future should be.” They looked at each other, and I saw that three quarters of them returned to the terrible from which they had come from, and a quarter passed to the place where they should sow. They were promised twice a day fruit from a tree, while theirs bore fruit, and so happy and diligent I saw them taking care of their planting place in expectation of such desired fruit. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p8}
There I woke up. Oh beloved!, wonders of wonders are reserved for all those who dutifully obey the directions of the Teacher! God grants that we all not be only hearers but doers of the Word of the Eternal. May the Lord bless us. {Daisy Escalante: 02-20-2021 , en.p9}
Hymn 200: Father, Your Word is my delight *
1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.
9 And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
